Meet Rachel & Hannah (with a Walking Pie - more on that to come!). We are sisters and we love the Apple Hill area of California.
For those of you not fortunate enough to have grown up in this area, in the Apple Hill region, there is a collection of farms, mostly in Camino, California (about 50 miles east of Sacramento). Every year, from mid-August to Christmas Eve, these farms open to the public and offer a huge variety of crafters, children's activities, delicious treats, freshly-picked produce, and an opportunity to leave the city behind and enjoy the beauty of the countryside. In addition, the Apple Hill area offers Christmas tree farms, breweries, wineries, and day spas (see http://www.applehill.com/ for more info).
While we've been going to Apple Hill our entire lives, we have only visited a small fraction of the dozens of Apple Hill farms. So, beginning in the Fall of 2013, we are setting out to visit each and every farm, and to share our adventures with you all through this site. Not all the farms we are reviewing are official "Apple Hill" farms (i.e. members of the Apple Hill Grower's Association), but they're all in the same region, so we're reviewing them all. It's been 5 years, and we only have a few more to review, and look forward to many more visits during the upcoming Apple Hill season.
Check our our Reviews page for reviews of each farm we visit. The reviews appear in chronological order, but there are quick links to each farm on the right-hand side of the page. As we re-visit our favorites each year, we'll be adding additional information, so be sure to check back regularly. Since we're not able to enjoy every aspect of every farm, we're including links to the websites for each farm (that has a website) so you can see what else they have to offer.
